Studio & Podcast Facilities

Our Approach

Recording studios and podcast facilities are among the most acoustically demanding spaces to design — and among the most expensive to get wrong. Unlike a general office or hospitality environment where the goal is adequate acoustic comfort, a studio requires precision. Reverberation times must meet specific targets. Background noise must be controlled to levels that allow quiet passages to be heard cleanly. Sound must not travel between rooms, between floors, or in from the outside world. And in critical listening rooms, the early reflection pattern — the first sounds that reach the listener after the direct signal — must be carefully managed to avoid colouration of the perceived sound.

These requirements are not achievable by instinct or by following generic acoustic panel recommendations. They require measurement, modelling and design. At Enhance Acoustics, every studio and podcast facility project begins with an assessment of what the space needs to achieve — the intended use, the monitoring or recording chain, the noise environment of the building — and works forward from there to a design that meets those requirements with precision.

We use CATT Acoustics software for 3D room acoustic modelling, producing predicted reverberation times, early reflection maps and speech intelligibility scores before any construction work begins. Where the project warrants it, we provide auralisation — a process that allows you to hear how the finished room will sound before a single panel is installed. This removes guesswork from the most critical acoustic decisions and gives you confidence that the finished space will perform to specification.

We work at every scale — from purpose-built professional multi-room recording facilities to single-room home studios and podcast booths. The acoustic principles are the same regardless of budget. The design process is always driven by the performance target, not by what is easiest to specify.
