Sheep's Wool Wrapped Acoustic Panels

Natural, Sustainable, High-Performance

Sheep's wool acoustic panels are a premium natural product, a 50mm recycled PET acoustic core wrapped in dyed sheep's wool. In addition to strong acoustic performance, sheep's wool offers genuine environmental and health benefits that are increasingly sought after in WELL and BREEAM-certified projects: it naturally regulates moisture and can actively remove VOCs (volatile organic compounds) from the air.

QUNAS sheep's wool acoustic panels combine a 50mm recycled PET acoustic core with an outer wrap of dyed sheep's wool. The result is a panel that performs at the highest level acoustically, looks premium in any interior, and delivers additional environmental and health benefits that no synthetic material can match.

Handmade in Ireland, these panels are suited to WELL-certified and sustainability-led projects, biophilic interiors, healthcare environments, schools, offices and any space where air quality, occupant wellbeing and acoustic comfort are all priorities.

Acoustic Performance

With a 50mm PET acoustic core, QUNAS sheep's wool panels achieve an NRC of 0.80 - 1. They are effective from 125Hz upward, covering the full speech frequency range and the low-mid frequencies most problematic in offices, schools and open-plan spaces. The wool outer layer adds a small additional absorption contribution at higher frequencies, giving the panel a smooth, broadband absorption curve.

The Benefits of Sheep's Wool

Sheep's wool is one of the most acoustically and environmentally effective natural materials available for interior use. Beyond its warmth and texture, it offers a set of practical benefits that make it well suited to occupied buildings:

Moisture regulation: sheep's wool fibres can absorb and release moisture vapour without any loss of structural or acoustic performance. In humid environments, wool absorbs excess moisture from the air; in dry conditions, it releases it slowly. This natural buffering effect helps maintain a more comfortable and stable indoor humidity level without mechanical intervention.

VOC removal: sheep's wool is capable of absorbing and binding volatile organic compounds (VOCs), airborne chemicals released by paints, adhesives, flooring and furniture. VOCs are a known contributor to poor indoor air quality and have been linked to headaches, irritation and reduced cognitive performance. Unlike synthetic materials, wool binds VOC molecules permanently within its fibre structure rather than re-releasing them over time.

Naturally fire resistant; wool is inherently difficult to ignite. It does not melt or drip and self-extinguishes when a flame source is removed.
>
Biodegradable and renewable: sheep's wool is a fully natural, renewable fibre. At end of life, it biodegrades without releasing harmful compounds.

Thermal insulation: wool fibres trap air within their structure, providing a degree of thermal insulation that contributes to the thermal comfort of the space.

FAQ’S

Does sheep's wool shrink or lose its shape over time? The wool wrap is fixed to the panel frame and will not shrink or distort in normal interior conditions. The panels are designed for permanent installation.

Is sheep's wool suitable for a commercial space? Yes the panels are designed and finished for commercial use. The wool is treated to ensure it is suitable for wall mounting in high-occupancy environments.

Can I choose the wool colour? Yes We offer a range of dyed wool colours. Please contact us to discuss colour options

Do these panels help with air quality? Yes Sheep's wool naturally absorbs and permanently binds VOCs airborne chemicals common in newly fitted or refurbished interiors. It also buffers humidity, which helps maintain a more comfortable indoor climate.

Are these panels suitable for WELL or BREEAM projects? Yes. The natural material content, VOC-binding properties and sustainability credentials of sheep's wool make these panels well suited to projects targeting WELL Building Standard or BREEAM certification.
